One day, one ship, for one terminally ill guest with their family and close friends.
Stichting Vaarwens (Wish to Sail Foundation) gives terminal patients and their family an unforgettable day by navigating the Dutch IJsselmeer.
A special day on a special shipOur guests are often restricted to a wheelchair and/or undergoing care in a hospital or hospice. Transportation by ambulance and/or medical care can be provided, if required.
This special day is completely free of charge; catering is also provided.
Till now, Stichting Vaarwens (the “Sailwish Foundation”) has provided a “Sailwish day” for more than 640 people.

The ship Meander V, also home to the initiators Evert and Inge, is a completely renovated ex-pilot ship, perfectly suitable for stretchers and wheelchairs.
In the current situation, we have only been able to sail to a maximum of 100 times per year. Too many times we have had to disappoint guests because of this limitation.
The new ship:
We have designed a completely new ship, fully adjusted to the needs of our guests. Thanks to many donations we have been able to sign the contract for its construction.
In January 2020 the new ship will be ready. We will then be able to sail more than 300 days per year.Your financial support is thus seriously needed to continue this unique initiative.
